The Maltese Relief Service has launched a tourist and social project “Let’s travel around the Lviv region. The history of the second home” to acquaint IDPs with the region that has become their second home. The project includes excursions around Lviv, as well as field trips to the region, especially to the Carpathians. The project is implemented in partnership with the Lviv Regional Military Administration and the Regional Department of Tourism.
“Today hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have found their second home, albeit temporary, in the Lviv region. We take care of several shelters for IDPs and constantly help IDPs in the Lviv region. Therefore, we are aware of their great need to reboot and gain strength. Today we want to introduce our guests to Lviv and the Lviv region so that through the beauty and history of our region they can better understand the environment in which they live,” explains Oleksiy Poburko, Program Manager of the Maltese Relief Service in Ukraine.
Within the framework of the tourist and social project “Let’s travel around the Lviv region. The history of the second home” a series of excursions around Lviv and sightseeing trips around the region, for instance to the Carpathians, are planned.
“We have already conducted a number of test tours in Lviv, as well as trips to Tustan and Zvenyhorod. After the tours we received excellent feedback from IDPs, – says Oleksiy Poburko, Program Manager of the Maltese Relief Service in Ukraine, – In September we plan to conduct 15 tours for 400 IDPs. Excursions around Lviv are organized for internally displaced people living in the region. And for IDPs who temporarily live in Lviv, we organize country trips, mostly to the Carpathians.”
Excursions are scheduled twice or thrice a week, but the schedule is flexible due to weather conditions. It should be noted that the project is implemented in partnership with the Lviv Regional Military Administration and the Regional Department of Tourism.
