The Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Ukraine Antonio Gazzanti Pugliese di Cotrone visited Lviv. During the visit, the Ambassador got acquainted with the work of the mobile center for psychological assistance and prosthetics workshop.
The Ambassador visited the mobile center for psychological assistance. There the specialists of the Malteser Relief Service provide psychological support to IDP families, paying special attention to children. They practice various therapeutic techniques, both individual and group sessions, toy therapy, and art therapy.
According to the coordinator of the mobile center for psychological assistance Olena Romanova, psychologists of the Maltese Relief Service are trying to create new positive memories for children to erase the memory of the traumas provoked by the war.
The Ambassador praised such activities, stressing how important it is to work with the younger generation for the future reconstruction of the country.
Ambassador Gazzanti Pugliese di Cotrone also visited the prosthetics workshop at the National Rehabilitation Center UNBROKEN Ukraine. The prosthetics workshop has two components: a room in the hospital, where patients are fitted and plaster negatives are made, and a special mobile workshop for the manufacture of prostheses.
This workshop was recently provided by the Maltese Relief Service for the St. Panteleimon Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv.
The prosthetics project is designed to help wounded Ukrainians who lost limbs during the war. A multidisciplinary team consisting of a surgeon, traumatologist, orthopedic technician, rehabilitation specialist, mental health specialist, and mentor work with each patient.
