The Maltese Relief Service donated a school minibus for the needs of the Strilky rural community in the Lviv region. This bus will transport students from remote mountainous settlements of the Strilky community to the school.
When the full-scale war began, this community without any hesitation donated two “Shkolaryky” (school busses) for the needs of our defenders. But with the resumption of offline education, there was a need for transport to bring children, including IDPs. The Maltese Relief Service responded to this request and has been cooperating and helping this community.
“Children of the Strilky community received a school minibus. It was presented to us by our partners from Switzerland. They are our friends who know the Strilky community very well. They have been helping the boarding school for 10 years: they repaired the dining room, bedrooms, dance hall, and many other things. Today, they also responded to the school’s needs,” says Pavlo Titko, head of the Maltese Relief Service.
From remote mountain settlements 330 children, including 45 IDP children, come to study in Strilky. “This is not the first assistance from the Maltese Relief Service. We have been cooperating for a long time and quite effectively. We are grateful for this very timely and necessary gift. After all, about 50% of children studying in the community need transportation,” said Tetiana Holubko, Head of the Department of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports of the Strilky rural community.
“I am very grateful to the Malteser Relief Service for the work you are doing – assistance to displaced persons, low-mobility groups, first aid training, prosthetics for the military, etc. All that is necessary now. Today our soldiers are fighting and winning for the sake of children’s future, including their quality education. Therefore, I thank you for supporting Ukraine on this front as well,” said the head of Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyy.
In addition, last week Strilky rural community received another one “Shkolaryk” (school bus) in co-financing from the regional budget.
