The Maltese Relief Service has launched the most caring campaign of the year “St. Nicholas for Children in Need”. Its goal is to give the joy of the holiday to kids growing up without parents and children with disabilities. Every year such children write letters to the Wonderworker with hope, and it is thanks to philanthropists that their wishes can be realized.
For 26 years in a row, the Maltese Relief Service has been holding a traditional campaign “St. Nicholas for Children in Need”. Every year, this initiative reaches several thousand children. These are children from orphanages and boarding schools, as well as children with disabilities.
Traditionally, children write letters to St. Nicholas in advance. Their requests are then analyzed by benefactors (helpers of the Wonderworker) who help to make them a reality. Ready gifts are brought to the office of the Malteser Relief Service (it serves as the residence of St. Nicholas for a month). And on the eve of December 19, volunteers visit children and give them holiday gifts.
“With this campaign, we want to show that we should never lose faith in miracles, and thanks to the good name of St. Nicholas, each of us can make everyone around us happy by giving him/her a piece of our warmth,” – said Victoria Korinchuk, the manager of the campaign from the Maltese Relief Service.
There are several ways to become an assistant of St. Nicholas:
- Come to the office of the Maltese Relief Service (read – the residence of St. Nicholas), take a child’s letter to the Wonderworker, and fulfill someone’s dream.
- Make a charitable donation to the account of the Maltese Relief Service (for these funds the organization will purchase sweets for children, stationery, hygiene products, etc., and transfer them to boarding schools).
Charitable donations can be made by following the link:
